Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman got the opportunity to show off his arm again Thursday, throwing out the ceremonial first pitch in San Diego before the Padres-Houston Astros game.
How'd he do? Let's just say he had much better success tossing the pigskin than he did the rawhide. The new co-owner of the Padres bounced the pitch in front of Chris Young, formerly of the Texas Rangers and a Dallas native.
Aikman, who drew interest from the New York Mets coming out of high school 25 years ago, is an investor in the group headed by Jeff Moorad that has bought 35 percent of the Padres and has five years to buy the rest. Moorad used to be partners with Aikman's agent, Leigh Steinberg.
