Is there room on the roster for 11 rookies?
The Cowboys will be more than willing to listen if/when teams call Sunday offering a future pick in order to move up in the draft. They could also package picks together to move up if there's a specific player they want.
So there's certainly no guarantee that the Cowboys will draft 11 players this weekend. But they'd have no problem if that's the case.
"These picks that we take are going to have a great opportunity to come in here and push the bottom 20 players on the roster," Stephen Jones said. "That's what we want, and that's why I feel like we could easily afford to take 11 picks. I wouldn't rule out 11 picks making the team if we pick them right."
If they have to cut some rookies, the Cowboys are fine with that, too, even with the complications coming due to the looming uncapped season. Stephen Jones pointed out that some rookies would beat out veterans with significant salaries, more than making up for signing bonuses of late-round rookies that would be accelerated against the salary cap.
