Cowboys want to let Felix Jones loose in the Wildcat
Jerry Jones downplayed the possibility of the Cowboys drafting a quarterback, but that wouldn't necessarily affect the Cowboys plans to occasionally use the Wildcat formation.
Jerry confirmed that the Cowboys tinkered with using ex-college QB Isaiah Stanback in the Wildcat one week last season, but he was inactive due to injuries to other players. Stanback would welcome that role on a regular basis.
Whether it's Stanback or Pat White or James Casey or somebody else taking the snap, the primary purpose of the Wildcat would be to feature Felix Jones' phenomenal open-field running ability, much like Arkansas did during his time with Darren McFadden in the Razorbacks' backfield.
"I think that with my interest starts and has a lot to do with Felix," Jerry said. "And I think Felix has a lot of experience in with what he has shown with his ability to block or his ability to come out of the backfield as a receiver or with all of that then it stems right there. I must tell you that I am interested because of Stanback's skills, and so I am interested from that standpoint."
